Those who have been the victims of abuse rarely think of compensation as an adequate redress for what has occurred in the past. Physical and mental injuries cause by abuse can leave scars (both emotional and physical) and we have a team of solicitors who can handle child abuse claims with the sensitivity that is required.
We can often handle these case on a no win no fee basis meaning that you do no need to pay a penny in the event that your case is not successful.
The most prevalent forms of child abuse are:
- Physical – where visible signs of injuries will be apparent and some scarring may be in evidence. Frequent visits to medical practitioners will sound alarm bells.
- Emotional – defined elsewhere as behaviour towards a child which might include loud yelling, coarse and rude attitude, inattention, harsh criticism, and denigration of the child’s personality.
- Sexual – where an adult or older child uses a child for sexual stimulation and gratification. The emotional effects on the victim long term can be catastrophic. The injuries to the victim can be wide ranging from sever guilt to insomnia from flashbacks to post traumatic stress disorder.
- Neglect – children who are neglected may experience delays in their own physical and mental development. Child neglect is the failure of a parent or other person with responsibility for the child to provide needed food, clothing, shelter, medical care, or supervision to the degree that the child’s health, safety, and well-being are threatened with harm.
